Subscribers to the Newfoundland Quarterly now have an opportunity to win an original oil painting by the French artist Jean Claude Roy. The painting, Barr'd Harbour (2008), 20” x 24” (unframed), oil on canvas, was donated by the artist. Approximate value $2200.

"Since 1971, I have been part of the community of artists in Newfoundland, and this experience has been so important for me, both professionally and personally, that I welcome the opportunity to give something back to Newfoundland," he said.

This new promotion marks the fourth year in a row that Jean Claude Roy has generously donated an original oil painting to support subscription to the NQ. The idea originated with David Blackwood, a member of the NQ Foundation board, who four years ago donated an etching, Visitation on Bragg’s Island, to help boost subscription sales.

All new and gift subscriptions, as well as all renewals or extensions, are eligible for a draw to take place in April, 2010.
